With the season of Tournaments upon us, it is real important to know the rules of golf.  Each week I will give you a definition of a term used in golf and a Rules Question, I will then give you the answer to that question in the next FINS.  Keep track of how you do, and try to answer the question first before you look it up.  You may be able to play the game, but what is a game without rules. (KNOW THE RULES)

Definition #1: Addressing the Ball: A player has addressed the ball when he has taken his stance and has also grounded his club, except that in a hazard a player has addressed the ball when he has taken his stance.

Question #1: A player takes his stance and grounds his club.  Realizing that the ball is precariously balanced and may move, he steps away from the ball and starts again.  This time he does not ground his club, but before he strikes the ball, it moves.  What is the Ruling?

GOOD LUCK!

Golf Shop Notes:

I will not be giving lessons on June 25th thru June 29th.  I will be playing in the Greater Portland Open Golf Tournament on the 27th-28th and 29th, if you are in Portland and would like to watch a Pro event in person, stop by Riverside Golf Course on any of these days and enjoy the event.

The First Golf Clinic was held last Saturday evening and I feel that it was a success.  I would like to thank everyone for coming and I hope that you enjoyed the clinic as much as I enjoyed giving it.   As the course gets busier it will be difficult to give lessons on the course, so what I am working on is a way that groups of 8 - 10 can go out and take actual playing clinics with myself, look for details at the Golf Shop.
