MOOSE MARVIN MISSES MATING MATCHUP MIT MYRTYLE & MAUDE
Shortly after submitting my last article about the adventures of Marvin, I was told (by Hal Pierce) that two cow moose were observed several days later in back of my house. Hoping for the best we waited and observed the area. The two ladies spent a few days wandering the area sampling our Frye Island salad and in general having a pretty good time.
All the observations and tracks indicated, however that Marvin never had his romantic rendezvous with mooses Myrtle and Maude. The gals left late last week. They may still be here, but signs around our area have all washed away, no recent tracks have been found.
People have been asking where they can take their kids to see moose. Please be cautious. Don't take these animals lightly. They should not be approached. If you think that you want a picture, make sure that your camera has a zoom lens (Most do). A full grown moose weighs as much as some automobiles and can run almost as fast as a racehorse. Our wildlife record on the island has not been anything in which we can take any pride. Let's leave these critters alone. Fred Gruner, L:ot 887
