A FIELD OF DREAMS

This past week my wife and I had an opportunity to tour the wonderful work in progress which next year will become Frye Island's newest amenity--THE BALLFIELD.  Each week we take an island walk and we were amazed at how much work had been done this past week.  Seeing the progress
impressed us both.  We were touched by the sense of community that the iindividuals who had been working on this project for so long (on a volunteer basis) had for all of us.  Our children and hopefully their children will reap the benefit of having yet another wonderful place to go and another activity to make their Summers, Springs and Falls unforgettable.

Seeing this progress and all the hard work and hours many dedicated islanders had put into this project touched us.  We wondered how we could help make it the kind of place the organizers envisioned it would be.  So, we spoke to John Crosby and met with Steve Comley to discuss the current status of the project and how we might help.  What we both came away with was an incredible sense of the passion these men had for this project.  How well organized the plans were, and how many long hours they had put in and would be putting in to make this project a reality for the Island's children.

On top of  this, Steve spoke of the tremendous generosity so many islanders had demonstrated in supporting  this project financially.  Hats off to all of you!  You deserve a round of applause for a job well done.  I guess this is why my wife and I love the island so much.  All the wonderful people who have made this island such a special place.  Think about it!  Over the years we have had fellow islanders who were willing to give their time and resources to make the golf course building a reality.  The
marina  a reality.  The renovated Community Center a wonderful place to go.  And, finally, to make our island's independence a reality.

So, when you see these men, thank them for their passion for kids and the island!  Go down and see
the progress they have made.  Ask them how you might help!  Steve talked about the need for an
irrigation /sprinkler system.  We have told them we would match the next $1,500.00 of project
donations to turn this Field of Dreams (and lots of hard work) into a greener place for the years to come.  So help them out--Donate if you haven't, and in this way you can thank them for their tireless efforts.

Sincerely,
    Some of your island neighbors.
