2002 Season Opens with a Splash

Welcome back to all of you who make Frye Island a part of you life. This winter and spring have been nerve wracking due to the lack of snow and precipitation, which have created low water conditions on the lake. However, the rain dances and prayers that have been coming forth from all of you seem to have paid off - we have received average rainfall over the past two months, and the lake has risen enough to open the island with no restrictions.

The good news about the mild winter was that we had very little frost, and therefore, little road damage from the winter. Roads this spring appear to be in very good shape.

There are only a couple of staff changes that you will notice. We have welcomed Laura Crosby to the Leisure Lounge at the Golf Course, and have bid Evelyn a warm farewell.  There are two new faces, Keith and Jay, in Public Works, and a new mate, Matt, on the ferries. With those exceptions, everyone else has come back for another year.

We are looking forward to providing you with the best services we can this summer. On behalf of all the staff on the island, I would like to welcome you all back, and hope you all enjoy your stay here in Frye Island, whether it is for a weekend, a couple of weeks, or the whole summer.

For those of you that were in line Friday a.m. to come over to the island, you no doubt saw a sight that caught you off guard - SNOW! The good news is that Saturday is much better. The bad news is, Sunday is more rain and snow. At least it will add to the lake level!
