….GARDEN CLUB NOTES….
THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR:
THE FRYE ISLAND FAMOUS, FABULOUS PLANT SALE
SATURDAY, MAY 25--9:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.
Our annual extravaganza takes places this Saturday, May 25, from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m..! Come on "downtown" to the Old Fire Barn to purchase your flowers and plants from the Garden Club. Early Birds will find the best selection of hardy perennials, raspberry bushes, Rugosa Roses, and colorful annuals for Island gardens.
New this year: very special, hand-painted flower pots will be offered for sale. Come to meet Debbie Anthony, the Frye Island artist who produces these wonderful works of art! Does your garden need a little something to go with the flowers? Look for the rustic, country gift items! We'll have a selection of hand-crafted items, bookmarks and crafts….And if all the shopping leaves you feeling hungry, pick up some breads, coffee cakes, pies and other irresistible goodies.
As usual, all proceeds from the plant sale will help maintain and complete beautification projects on Frye Island.
COME TO OUR NEXT MEETING -- Our next meeting on Saturday, June 8; following a very brief business meeting, a guest speaker will help us plan container gardens using perennials. Don't miss this!
FRYE ISLANDERS, MARK YOUR CALENDARS--The Frye Island Garden Club is hosting a town-wide pot luck dinner & Audubon Society program again this year. Plan to join us on Saturday, June 15 at 6;00 P.M. For dinner and a program on owls.
THE FRYE ISLAND GARDEN CLUB is open to all Islanders and their visitors. As any of our members likes to remind us, "If you take the ferry over to the Island, you're automatically a member of the Garden Club!" Come when you can--we meet at the Community Center at 9:00 a.m. the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. It's a terrific way to get acquainted if you're a newcomer and great fun for old-timers… You don't have to be a botanical genius or expert; if you've never gardened in your life, this is the club for you! We're here to enjoy the process and learn as we go.
PENNIES FOR PETALS--PLEASE SAVE OUR POCKET CHANGE AND PITCH IT IN THE Garden Club jar in the Administration Building. Your donations help maintain the public gardens on Frye Island.
