The best place to view the fireworks is out on the lake, but be careful and
remember you must stay 1000 feet from shore. Captain Paul Bourque, of the
fire department, will be out in a patrol boat helping to keep everyone at a
safe distance.
The beach at Long Beach will be closed to all bathers as soon as the
fireworks truck arrives. Also no boats can go in or out of the marina after
5:00 p.m., by state law, due to the danger of a fireworks explosion.  Prior to 5:00 P.M., boats in Slips 65-107 have to be moved, as they are within the 500 ft.
exclusion zone.   No cars will allowed into the marina after 5:00 p.m. and no
one will be allowed  within 500 feet of where the display is being setup. Fire
department members will  be at the marina to assist you in viewing the fireworks display and to control access to only safe areas.

SAD #6 Update

As many of you may be aware, the 2002/2003 budget for SAD #6 was defeated in the June 11 referendum. The SAD #6 Board has gone back to the budget, made some adjustments and cuts, and has offered a revised budget for a new vote.

The new budget is approximately $400,000 less than the original proposal. Frye Island's share has dropped from $649,000 to $634,407.96.

A public hearing has been scheduled by the SAD #6 Board for July 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bonney Eagle Middle School Library. The Middle School is located in Buxton, on Rt. 35.

A new referendum on the three questions that failed will be held on July 23. As with the June 11 vote, polls will be open at the Community Center from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
