55.   If you have other comments, check here and write them on the back of this page.

  1. 6AM Ferry daily (high season). Double Ferry daily (peak hours & rain days).

  2. A letter was attached to survey. Copy given to Vic. Please see survey for comment.

  3. Better knowledge of Raymond rescue capability for heart attacks & non breathing people. Improve quality of recreational facilities. FI should stay a private natural place. Keep the roads dirt. Don't over develop.

  4. Can we do some control of radio noise? The houses are too close together that radios on beach fronts or porches infringe on the quiet & beauty of the natural surroundings

  5. Consider lengthening the season. Could the tennis courts get some maintenance?

  6. Discourage renting & elect officials seem to represent their own interests and not those who elected them. They are there to serve the islanders and need to show more respect

  7. During the season extend ferry service to 12 on Tuesday and if possible on Wednesday

  8. During the Spring and Fall the ferry should continue to run at least 9:30 PM M-Th on the hour during the evening Hours.

  9. Ferry schedule for evening runs which should allow for later runs prior to and after the season, i.e. April, 6/24 & 9/4 & 10/31. Ferry service should be available 24 hours a day for emergencies only

  10. Ferry should be 24 hours on Friday & Saturday nights. Thank you for circulating this survey. We appreciate your involvement.

  11. Ferry should be available beyond 7PM M-W after Labor Day and before 6/21. It seems the fares are high already. What are the actual costs?

  12. Ferry trailer should be upgraded architecturally; assuming it can be replaced with a modern structure. It does not create a good impression of our town. The attitude of some of our town employees is almost ...

  13. For Emergencies ( including personal emergencies.) Extra fee would be okay say $30 to $40. Frye Island is unique. Why bother coming to F.I. if it is the same as the one you just left. It needs to remain a place of relaxation.

  14. Generally a good questionnaire. Maybe a bit premature in some areas due to lack of experience as a Town. But we realize a reaction is needed to help a in Comprehensive planning.

  15. Good survey! Keep Frye island a special place, open spaces, great recreational opportunities, open communication, limited commercial development. Begin to implement SAD 6 secession process ? should ...

  16. Have a full service marina where gas can be purchased. It would be nice to have a sit down restaurant at the marina or golf course.

  17. How about running ferry as long as no snow in roads & lake not frozen, once in am & once in pm. Even if water shut off, at least we could get to our homes.

  18. I am quite satisfied with the town of Frye island as it is. I would oppose those changes that would increase property taxes.

  19. I can understand some aspects of this survey as required, but the notion of Condo's, Bed & Breakfast Facilities, Hotels and the like are better left ignored.

  20. I hope something good comes out of this survey. We must control taxes. Use our tax money contractively and honestly for Frye Island.

  21. I hope you publish the results of this survey. You should mail results to all residents that responded. I like the island pretty much as it is. We need more enforcement of road use rules. We do not need to start down the road of more facilities, ball fields, rec. halls, etc. Just my opinion.

  22. I love the island the way it is. It's great for the kids as well as adults. I would like to see gas sold at the marina or store so as not to have to go off Island.

  23. I think you should have an Inn at the Golf course. Make it an 18 hole and this would attract people and pay for its maintenance. I would like another restaurant on the Island. Maybe at the Marina.

  24. I would like to ferry start earlier at 5:30 or 6:00 so kids could get to school & people to work rather than running until 12 or 1AM. I can't live here because of it. I would also like to be involved more in town affairs.

  25. I'm interested in your recycling. I am the town recycling coordinator, a paid position, in York and Ogunquit. I also do all the hazardous waste events. I would love to be involved if there is a need. It's nice to have contractor services (ie. Buxton Plumbing) readily available on island. PS Rick & Dick are wonderful.

  26. Just because we are a town does not mean that we should start doing things differently. The true cost of owning & living on Frye island should be of concern to us all

  27. Just increase evening hours.

  28. Keep dump open more. To drive in it.

  29. Leave the Island the way that it is.
Less change is better than too much change

  30. Let's keep Frye Island a small community

  31. My family and I come to the Island for peace and quiet and to escape the hub bub of everyday living. We enjoy the peacefulness, privacy, and tranquility of the Island as it is right now.

  32. N.B. A campground on the Island would be a disaster! It should not be included as an option in the Zoning Ordinances.

  33. Need better mail service

  34. Need to begin looking at replacing water lines due to increase in breakage, especially along Ridge Road..

  35. No mobile homes! Preserve island as was first intended @ it's inception. Let homeowners enjoy our beautiful lake & time with children.

  36. No reason to encourage growth on the Island. Adequate number of cottages. Objective of economic growth is to create jobs, yet people on the Island are either retired or have employment off the Island.

  37. No tax increase! Lake front has increased 2x's in last 8 years ? Inland needs it now.

  38. Our Island is a very beautiful place that we have all built or bought our homes. It would be a very tragic time to see this island become commercialized because all some people see is dollar signs.

  39. Overall we are very satisfied with Frye Island. We would greatly appreciate an earlier Ferry schedule for Saturday Morning. 6:00AM season & 7:00 Am Off Season

  40. Please manage & limit growth, maintain and remember the special rural atmosphere of Frye Island.

  41. Please remember the natural beauty of the Island is what brought us all here. There are many places to golf, play tennis, etc.., but the tranquility of the Island is our most precious resource.

  42. Question 55: Town Administration and resident participation in the governmental process are excellent. Facilities in the town have steadily been updated and improved. Ferry runs efficiently and the roads are better.

  43. re; question 17 no vehicles allowed.

  44. Sheriff should strictly enforce traffic laws especially stop signs and children driving golf carts, ATVs, & motor bikes

  45. Should find some way to have a full service marina;  including gasoline; would improve tax base. a heliport/airport for helicopters or commuter aircraft would increase access from Portland or Boston and ...

  46. Special rate or multiple pass should be available to those using bicycles.

  47. Speed limit signs need to be more visible & numerous on Sunset & throughout Island. Renters fly around the Island because they do not know speed limit. Pedestrian traffic need to be protected, (walking o...

  48. Summer education opportunities for all ages should also be considered as part of comp. plan
Tennis courts on North end of Island should be repaired and maintained as well as the Community Center Courts are maintained. I don't like the sound of clustering of development but we do want to preserve...

  49. Thank you for asking; great job

  50. The $6.00 blue ticket is losing us money. Everyone from relatives, friends, renters seem to have them. I think if we went back to $5.00 for owners only, (must have decal on car) and $10.00 for their child...

  51. The ferry should make more frequent trips rather than running so many nearly empty ferries ( during double ferry times). It might be more cost effective. Cut the double ferry need to shorter times & establishment...

  52. The Ferry should open by April 1st. The use of golf carts by children under 16 yrs. should not be eliminated. It is part of the family fun that keeps families coming to Frye Island. Maybe classes to insure safety

  53. The Island is fine the way it is. There should be few houses built and no campgrounds or mobile home sites. It would create congestion waiting for the ferry.

  54. The use of golf carts and other recreational vehicles on the town roads should be limited to those operators who are licensed to drive in their respective states. The golf course should have 9 hole golf rates.

  55. The very serious problem of unlicensed drivers operating unregistered, uninsured motor type vehicles on the island roads. Who is responsible if they are involved in an accident?? What is the towns liability?...

  56. To briefly sum things up: Please keep things simple. The reason why I liked it up here in the beginning was because of this, but now things are changing; ie mini golf, b.b.field. They all need up keep and per...

  57. Town office hours should be longer, particularly on summer months

  58. Use one ferry to go back & forth continuously during high season instead of two every 15 minutes one waiting for the other on either side. Your paying 4 people to do what 2 people could do. Also charge I...

  59. Very important to increase the ferry runs both length of season and 24 hours service

  60. We are very impressed, feel very confident in and are very grateful for the civil & Community leaders who have stepped forward; Bob Hannah, Joe Potts, the Fire Dept., and the Garden Club to name 4.

  61. We bought land and built on this island because of it's rural nature. It is a place we come to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city., answering machines and commercialism. We would hate to see...

  62. We feel land trust is a valuable pursuit. Revisit the issue of the max # of residences that the island can handle. Thank you for the Fire Dept. hours of service. We use recycling bins regularly.
We have lived on Frye Island for 14 summers. Please try to open the Island the 1st weekend of April, school vacations. Everyone we have spoken to would love this availability to get in and spend the who...

  63. We were promised that due to double taxation our high taxes would be noticeably lower if Frye Island succeeded. You need to keep this promise as the taxes are too high!!

  64. We would love to see year round access to Frye Island

  65. When are our taxes going down? We were told they would. When will someone fire up the road crews & teach them how to properly care for dirt roads? Take their little shovels away and show them how to fix roads..

  66. When I have a day off during the week I can't get here until 7:00PM. The absolute earliest the ferry should stop running is 9:00PM so that people from Mass. and further can have a reasonable amount of time to get here.

  67. When we were the Town of Standish we had limited say & we may have been better off; we haven't had that great of an increase in the population but people seem to be coming out of the woodwork to ...

  68. Why do the property owners pay school taxes when no child from Frye Island will ever attend a public school in Standish? Seems like legalized extortion.

  69. Why should we subsidize renters, visitors, & guests or older children whose income is much greater than ours? If children bothers some then give them the $10.00 ticket. WE should charge a surtax to all r...

  70. Work out a system so that Federal Express, etc.. can more easily be sent and received (ie,.a drop off bin at the Ferry landing on both sides.). Put a "swap Table" at the dump where people can leave useful s...

  71. Would like tennis court @ north end of island to be restored and am much in favor of a trail system.

  72. Would like to see golf carts limited to drivers who hold a regular drivers license

  73. You might consider imitating other towns in their treatment of seniors. They get some consideration in the fees for fishing licenses, golf fees, and taxes. Moored boats in the cocktail beach bay waters shou...
