Town Meeting on July 3, 1998
| Article 1. | To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting. |
| Article 2. | To vote to authorize the Voters of the Frye Island Municipal Services Corporation to speak at Town Meetings of the Town of Frye Island. |
| Article 3. | To vote that the Town of Frye Island adopt the rules of procedure set forth in the Maine Moderators Manual 1989 Edition for all Town Meetings (copy on the FI homepage and available at the Island Administration office). |
| Article 4. | To vote by written ballot on the following: "Elect Selectmen for three positions, one with term expiring July 1999, one with term expiring July 2000, one with term expiring July 2001; subsequent terms will be for three years each." |
| Article 5. | To vote by written ballot on the following: "Elect one individual as the Town representative to the SAD 6 School Board with term expiring July 2001." |
| Article 6. | To vote to authorize the Selectmen to appoint a single assessor to perform the tax assessment functions for the Town. |
| Article 7. | To vote to see if the Town will approve the recommended 1998 budget appropriations of $275,016, a tax commitment of $255,016, and a mil rate of $17.00 per thousand (identical to the 1997 Standish mil rate). |
| Article 8. | To vote to establish July 31 and October 31 as the time when taxes are due for the first two quarters of the Town fiscal year in 1998. |
| Article 9. | To vote to see if the Town will approve the interest rate set by the State of Maine to be charged on late taxes, starting July 1, 1998. |
| Article 10. | To vote by written ballot on the following: "Shall a Charter Commission be established for the purpose of establishing a new Municipal Charter for the Town of Frye Island." |
| Article 11. | To vote by written ballot on the following: "Elect six members to the Town of Frye Island Charter Commission (must be a Town resident); three additional members will be appointed by the Selectmen (these do not have to be Town residents)". |
| Article 12. | To vote to establish the Town Meeting-Selectmen-Manager form of the Town Manager Plan (described in MSRA 30A §2631) as the type of government for the Town of Frye Island, where the Selectmen appoint an individual to the position of Town Manager, the Town Clerk and all other Town Officials. |
| Article 13. | To vote to allow the Town of Frye Island to join Maine Municipal Association as a full member and to take advantage of those services which are offered. |
| Article 14. | To vote to accept from Brian Hogan the 1200 gallon Army Fire Truck to be used for fire protection on Frye Island and not to give away or sell the truck without the permission of Mr. Hogan. |
| Article 15. | To vote to adopt the most current edition of the BOCA National Building Code as regulations for the construction and remodeling of buildings. |
| Article 16. | To vote to prohibit open burning, bonfires and recreational campfires, as defined by the BOCA National Fire Prevention Code (1996) within the Town of Frye Island; recreational campfires in a fire pit will be allowed. |
| Article 17. | To vote to establish a Planning Board and a Board of Appeals in the Town of Frye Island and allow the Board of Selectmen to appoint members. |
| Article 18. | To vote to allow the Town of Frye Island to enter into a three year contract with Maine Energy Recovery Company for disposal of Island household rubbish at estimated rates of $45 per ton the first year, $46.50 per ton the second year, and $48 per ton the third year. |
| Article 19. | To vote to compensate the Selectman for performing Town duties by paying each Selectman two ferry tickets for each Town and Selectmen meeting attended, effective July 3, 1998; this compensation level can be changed at a future Town Meeting, if needed. |
| Article 20. | To vote to allow the Selectman authorize the Town Manager to secure tax anticipation loans when needed. |
