Frye Island ... A Community Managed by its Owners

One of the significant improvements to the Island when it became a Town in 1998 was the upgrading of the fire protection. The Volunteer Fire Department and a group of other volunteers built the Central Fire Station shown below. The Island has four fire trucks. The VFD members have regular training sessions.

The Town has a Public Works Department that maintains the roads, operates the public water system, provides weekly trash pickup and operates the Recycle Center. The Island has a very active Garden Club that has constructed and maintains several flower gardens.
