Victor F.W. Richards, 1948-2004

"Vic"

Born to Dr. Victor and Jeanette Richards on January 12th, 1948 in San Francisco, CA, Vic was the 3rd of four children, their eldest... and most remarkable son.

Vic graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts after emersion in college life of the sixties and deep introspection. He went on to travel in Europe and the United States before he found a home in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Vic joined the California Forestry Service where he became a High Sierra's fire fighter leading his own troop of Hot Shot fire fighters for many years.

After meeting Janet on the ski slopes of Squaw Valley, he followed her back to New England where he pursued his graduate degree in National Resource Management at UNH and began their lives together as man and wife.

Vic enjoyed creative writing and poetry and spent his leisure hours running, skiing with his family, bird watching, scuba diving, landscaping, reading, appreciating country music and amusing us all with his keen observations of human behavior.

He will forever live on in the hearts of his wife Janet, and his daughters Emily and Molly and the friends and family whose lives he touched.

  • A Welcome to Friends and Family
                               -  Pastor Christopher Kinnell

               The Lord's Prayer

Our father, who art in heaven,
          hallowed be thy name
          Thy kingdom come,
          thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
          And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
          but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory
          for ever and ever.    Amen

To Those

To those who are left behind,

luck and friendship will remain

Ambition and attachments diversify

never will be same.

Ambition like progress strives forward

ever growing

new building up old ones tear down

buildings of glass now, not of firm

stone and rock.

Attachments like nature's growth

life grows and then dies

but from ashes grows new ones

Seeds remain to be planted & grow

Those who are left behind play the game

now no game, nothing

but those who are left behind
